June 2008.

Staff and students at Fleetwood Nautical Campus are preparing to take part in the first college regatta.  The first annual "Owt That'll Float" Regatta, named and organised by Enrichment Co-ordinator Nathan Hackney, will take place on Saturday 5 July at 1045 hours.

Participants will set sail from the beach by the Fleetwood Offshore Survival Centre River Platform and make their way upstream, finishing at the Blackpool and Fleetwood Yacht Club.

Staff and students will sail a variety of dinghies such as Gulls, Wayfarers, GP14s, Canadian Canoes and Kayaks.

Nathan Hackney said 'We include practical seamanship and sailing activities in the enrichment programme given to cadets during all phases of their training and the students really enjoy it.  As well as the practical benefits gained in such an activity, there is a huge fun element too."
